The human immune system is wonderful. In a very simplistic
way, it resembles an army or police force, helping with the
natural defence and repair mechanism needed for the
prevention or healing of disease. It is composed primarily
of specialized white blood cells and a variety of organic
compounds produced by the immune cells to act as messengers
or regulators. Some of the well-known immune cells are the
T-lymphocytes, natural killer cells, and macrophages (big
eaters).
The organic compounds
that help the immune cells include interleukins,
interferon's, tumour necrosis factor, and many others.
Together with their organic compounds, the immune cells form
a kind of team or network that helps with the coordination
of the immune battle (initiation, regulation, and
termination). They also kill or eliminate hostile agents
such as cancer cells, bacteria, viruses, or diseased cells
harbouring some diseases – causing virus or other agent.
Manifestations of
disturbance (or dysfunction) of the immune battle as seen in
many chronic degenerative diseases are conditions where the
immune system fights the body’s own normal tissues instead
of fighting foreign hostile agents. When taken together,
black seed and garlic have an immune enhancing effect. The
garlic improves the natural killer cell activity. The black
seed and garlic have an immune enhancing the helper T-cell
count and improving the “helper to suppressor” T-cell ratio.
